Unified Patriots by Vassar Bushmills
Donald Trump has a habit of heading down a rabbit hole where only he knows he hopes it will lead. He keeps friend and foe alike guessing, so even when he comes out of that hole smelling like a rose, no one can be sure whether he just got lucky, or that was how he planned it all along. Even Rachel Maddow, the most pragmatic of his media enemies, will have to admit he’s done this quite a few times.
I don’t know what President Trump’s knowledge about how large “face” plays in the cultures and politics of the Far East. But it’s Yuge. Moreover, no one is really sure if Kim Jung Un really runs the North Korean crime machine, or is the face of a larger collective. Personally, I lean toward the latter.
Either way, Face matters.
And by agreeing to meet with Kim face-to-face what has been proffered is a kind of Face never offered to the North Korean regime before. And since the South Koreans served as the middleman, no one even knows who actually laid this rabbit hole on the table.
We were at war with Kim’s grandfather for nearly three years in the 1950s, ending with an armistice that locked North Korea away from decent society, literally, a condition that persists today. It was Kim’s father who made the giant strides toward developing a nuclear capability, only no one is absolutely certain why. Self-defense? A source of income? Or the Korean idea of equality in the comity of nations? The Nuclear Club and the bragging rights?
Bill Clinton sent Madeleine Albright, his Secretary of State, to iron out a deal with Kim Jung Il’s representatives, which turned out to be a masterful swindle, where we gave them billions, boatloads of frozen chicken wings, and they gave us a promise on a piece of paper which they never truly intended to keep and we never intended to enforce. And they knew it.
Madeleine may as well have been Stormy Daniels, her signature was so worthless[…]
(A chapter from my Kindle book at Amazon..com, Donald Trump, the Common Man and the American Theology of Liberty, covering only his campaign through the election, but a unique analysis of Trump’s relationship with the people, especially those no one else wants to get close to. An undated revision is planned.)
Conservatism and the Sedona Effect
In the 1980s, my brother in Arizona called to warn me about the New Age Movement, that it was taking over religion in America. In truth, the crystal-gazers had taken over most of Sedona, the chic desert getaway in central Arizona where he worked. And that’s about all. I told him to fugettaboutit. Were it not for Shirley MacLaine, no one else in America would have ever heard of New Age outside of the Best Buy music department or that stretch five miles long, four miles wide and about 100,000 strong, depending on the moon cycle, when the moonbeams flittered.
There’s a lesson there.
Do you know how many people watch Fox News nightly? How about all of them combined; Fox, NBC, CBS, CNN, ABC? Try 10% of America’s over-18 adult population. About 25 million. Far fewer listen to Limbaugh (he says 4 million daily), when most people work. Now move down to real political wonks, including the 4-5 people who will read this article; the people who go even deeper by buying books and reading opinion and news online.
Very few indeed, but still large enough to create a separate world, which, like the people who live and work in Sedona, don’t get around very much.
This is perfectly normal behavior for people who voluntarily live inside a bubble[…]
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square perform a medley “A Tribute to the Armed Services,” arranged by Lloyd Larson. The medley consists of “The Army Goes Rolling Along,” “Marine Corps Hymn,” “Semper Paratus,” “Anchors Aweigh,” “The U.S. Air Force (Wild Blue Yonder),” and “America the Beautiful.”
A hearty hat tip to Bunkerville for putting me on to this.
Where did they get these weapons…? John McCain, Obama & now DONALD TRUMP?? (who wanted to end this) funded these insane Jihadists screaming “Allah’u Ackbar”?! Just think: We’re on the side of the Jihadists…..AGAIN?!
Look at the past and how we armed these Jihadists:
THERE IS NO DENYING WE ARMED THESE BASTARDS.

WASHINGTON, April 6, 2017 — The United States fired Tomahawk missiles into Syria today in retaliation for the regime of Bashar Assad using nerve agents to attack his own people.
President Donald J. Trump ordered the attack on Al-Shayrat Air Base, the base from which the chemical attack on Syria’s Idlib province was launched. The missiles were launched from U.S. Navy ships in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea.
The attack is in retaliation for the Syrian dictator for using banned chemical agents in the April 4 attack.
“Bashar al-Assad launched a horrible chemical weapons attack on innocent civilians,” Trump said in a statement to the nation. “Using a deadly nerve agent, Assad choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children. It was a slow and brutal death for so many. Even beautiful babies were cruelly murdered in this very barbaric attack. No child of God should ever suffer such horror.”
Vital National Security Interest
Trump ordered the targeted military strike on the airfield that launched the attack. “It is in the vital national security interest of the United States to prevent and deter the spread and use of deadly chemical weapons,” the president said.
No one disputes that Syria used banned chemical weapons of the people of Idlib, he said, adding that this is a violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. Syria also ignored United Nations Security Council resolutions.
“Years of previous attempts at changing Assad’s behavior have all failed and failed very dramatically,” Trump said. “As a result, the refugee crisis continues to deepen and the region continues to destabilize, threatening the United States and its allies.”
Trump called on all civilized nations to join the United States in seeking an end to the slaughter in Syria, and to end the threat terrorism poses in the blighted nation.
Details of Strike
Shortly after the president’s address, Pentagon spokesman Navy Capt. Jeff Davis issued a statement providing details of the strike. It took place at about 8:40 p.m. EDT — 4:40 a.m. April 7 in Syria, he said.
The strike was conducted using Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles, or TLAMs, launched from the destroyers USS Porter and USS Ross in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, Davis said in his statement. A total of 59 TLAMs targeted aircraft, hardened aircraft shelters, petroleum and logistical storage, ammunition supply bunkers, air defense systems, and radars[…]
