The headline read: ‘Pentagon plans to shrink US Army to pre-WWII level’. It seemed a surreal homage to the past when WWI heroes tried like a son-of-a-gun to forget the horrors of modern warfare as practiced in early 20th century Europe. Then, the worst thing they worried about was the near-silent thud of a mustard gas shell and the yellow cloud slowly wafting its way toward you, trapped in a trench carved out of some poor schlub’s formerly fertile farmland and awaiting your death by asphyxiation brought about by the caustic action of the gas. Those heroes learned; but it looks like we didn’t.
Idiots like John Kerry and Chuck Hagel will obey their orders given by ‘Fearless Leader’ Beaurat Obama to roll back enlistments and minimize the standing Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. This could assure any and all enemies have as little trouble overrunning us whenever they decide they’ll make a move.
To better understand, an enemy is a person who feels hatred for, fosters harmful designs against, or engages in antagonistic activities against another; an adversary or opponent; then there’s the person who is armed by a hostile nation or state or any citizen of such a state….
Sarge, author of the above post, is correct in the assessment that our inept non-leaders have learned nothing thus dooming this nation to the plight of history repeating itself.
It certainly does appear that we have learned nothing from the past. Can it possibly be that many have intentionally chosen to ignore the lessons of the past, having concluded in their non-brilliant minds, that this time around, “it will be different?”
It won’t be….history will repeat itself. The only question is when?
