The goal: execution.  Two masked gangbangers entered the halfway house Monday night armed with two rifles in search of 31-year-old, Damarlon C. Thomas, a former member of the Sunny Side Gang in Saginaw, Michigan sentenced originally to 19 years in prison.

In November, Obama commuted the sentences of 79 inmates, one of which Thomas who was  sentenced to 19 years in prison.

In 2007, Thomas was arrested on possession of cocaine distribution charges along with 16 others in what was said to be the largest drug sting (“Operation Sunset”) in the city’s history.

A federal grand jury has indicted 17 suspected Saginaw gang members whom authorities describe as the “worst of the worst.”

Authorities believe all 17 belong to the Sunny Side gang that operates on the city’s South Side.

Thomas may have testified against some of his fellow gang members arrested in Operation Sunset for a lighter prison sentence.

It should be noted that the gang leader Stanley Thomas Brazil Jr. age 33 at the time of arrest was taken down in the same sting.

Brazil, convicted on two counts of distribution of 50 grams or more of crack cocaine was sentenced to 380 months in prison.

Only time will tell if Thomas’ execution is connected to Brazil or any of the other prison sentences meted out.

Last week, Obama commuted another 300 plus sentences bringing his number of commutations to about 1,715 people that according to Obama deserved a second shot.

Second chance or not, some deserved a second chance while others should never be free again.  The bottom line is that many of the people that Obama has put back on the streets of America are dangerous and Damarlon Thomas will not be the last person to die because of Obama’s commutations.

What about the people and families of those whose testimony resulted in justice being served?  Obama’s commutations are going to result in violence and loss of lives.

As if Obama hasn’t contributed enough to crime in the streets of America with his war on law enforcement, his commutations of some who should never be free again just kicked it up a notch.
