This past Saturday, the narcissist Glenn Beck did a radio interview with NPR’s Scott Simon during which Beck stated that Donald Trump is not a Conservative.
Beck who feels that he has the right to speak for all Conservatives has been on a roll of late.
Beck acknowledged that he has a lot of listeners who believe he is wrong about Trump, but Beck insisted, ‘it’s hard to say you espouse conservative principals and small-government principals when you are saying that you think [the] Canadian health care system works and is wonderful.’
When asked if Trump, who is leading in every state and national poll, is ‘right or wrong on immigration,’ Beck, who used the border crisis as an opportunity to bash conservatives, simply replied that he did not believe that Trump was ‘anti-immigrant or anti-Mexican or [anti] Hispanic in any way….’
Simon also asked Beck if the debate on immigration would end up “insulting Hispanic voters.”
Beck’s response, “No, I don’t. I don’t. I had a conversation with Sean Hannity this week, who’s a big Trump supporter. And, you know, I said, my biggest problem – and this is saying something, coming from Glenn Beck, I think, for a lot of people who view Glenn Beck as the clown or the monkey on TV – but we have a real serious issue with civility. And as long we’re civil, I think debate, vigorous debate, is good for everyone.”
You can hear the discussion here and view the transcript here.
It’s no mistake that Beck in final response to Simon mentioned Sean Hannity and “civility”.
On August 14th, Beck posted a note on his Facebook page during which he questioned the logic of “big name ‘conservatives’” getting behind Donald Trump.
Why are big name ‘conservatives’ supporting him? I get it if you are tired of politicians, a republican progressive, or you are only about winning (although those who say they would NEVER vote for him is over 50% of REPUBLICANS). Perhaps you are angry and you just want to make someone pay or just want something done and you don’t care how it gets done, but what PRINCIPLES does he have that they are attracted to?
I am not talking about the average Joe, I am talking about Sean Hannity or Ann Colter. How about Savage or Rush?
These are smart people. What am I missing? Just based on his favorability ratings he could never win in a general. Research shows that he may be near his ceiling now….
A few days later, addressing the attributes of every candidate and after pointing out that is he is presently “personally UNDECIDED as to whom I will support in the GOP primaries,” Sean Hannity on his website penned a lengthy response addressing every point raised by Beck in his Facebook post and more. (I will not bother with excerpts since every word of Hannity’s response is a must read.)
The following morning (Monday) Beck mentioned the Hannity/Beck friendly discourse to his listeners during his radio program
‘There are many candidates that will not come on my show because they don’t like me. And they know that I will express and assert my opinion and push back, not in an interview way, but push back as a citizen. That’s not what Sean does,’ Glenn said….
Hannity and Beck then went head to head later that evening on Fox/Hannity (see below).
