Hear, hear! Badu is correct: focusing constantly on race only serves to widen the divides that already exist. We’re not looking for a kumbaya moment here, but doing away with the hyphens and taking pride in our American identity would be a step in the right direction. When the race card is played, no one wins.

Much respect and huge props to Erykah Badu. I have a whole new respect for this woman (not that she would give a hoot) but credit must be given where credit is due.  After all, we were all Americans before the hyphens came.
