As I said in an earlier post, everyone has a story to tell and Yonni Barrios is no different.   Barrio, age 50, married for 28 years has one heck of a story and reunion awaiting him.

In case you do not remember, Barrios is the miner whose wife, Marta Salinas, and long time mistress, Susana Valenzuela, met at a candlelight vigil that they were both attending for the buried coal miners.  So not cool.

NEW YORK POST

“Despite feeling ‘horrified’ about her husband‘s cheating ways, Salinas, 56, has told friends she still plans to welcome Barrios, 50, back with open arms once he’s freed, the paper said.

‘Barrios is my husband. He loves me and I am his devoted wife,’ she said.

But she’s not the only one who feels that way.

Susana Valenzuela, who’s been his mistress for five years, insists she’ll always be his soul mate.

‘We are in love. I’ll wait for him,’ she told The Sun.

Salinas clawed back at her rival, refusing to address Valenzuela by name.

‘This woman has no legitimacy,’ she hissed.”

That being said, Susana Valenzuela, mistress now knows where she stands (just in case she did not before).

Barrios, of course, the charmer that he is invited both his wife and his mistress to the rescue and that is where Mrs. Barrios has drawn the line in the sand deciding to instead to boycott today’s rescue in honor of her husband’s misdeeds.  The day is young; she can still change her mind (a woman’s prerogative).  Susana Valenzuela, of course, is expected to attend.

UPDATE 1:

ABC NEWS

Chilean miner Yonni Barrios won’t be greeted by his wife of 28 years when he’s finally rescued today from the underground tomb where he’s been trapped for months.

Marta Salinas, the 56-year-old wife of Barrios, won’t be glued to her television during his rescue, either.

Salinas says she is not interested in the rescue of her husband after learning about his mistress, Susana Valenzuela, whom he had been seeing on the sly for years.

‘I’m happy because he was saved. It’s a miracle from God. But I won’t attend the rescue,’ Salinas told South American newspaper Clarin.”

UPDATE 2:

At 4:36 p.m. Chilean time, Yonni Barrios emerged as the 21st coal miner to be rescued this day.  An emotional Susana Valenzuela, Barrios’ mistress was on hand to meet him and Mrs. Barrios as indicated above, did not attend.  What should have been a heartfelt moment for all appeared awkward, with a tinge of sadness and hesitant on the part of Barrios.

Once checked out, Barrios’s family will allow the coal miner to rest after which, there will be a family meeting.

It goes without saying that the world is praying for Yonni Barrios, Marta Salinas and family.

Moving on 21 top side, 12 more to go.
