Funny, I emailed this to a former co-worker who spent all day yesterday trying to justify this away. I doubt she’ll be in touch for a while. It didn’t end well.
I know that we ere founded on and by immigrants, but this is ridiculous. Many Americans go without jobs, health care, etc so those that sneak in can have everything. What country am I in again?

Oh, I guess you can see the names of the countries that were mentioned. Actually, I wouldn’t want America lumped into the same catagory as ANY of those countries. No, I wouldn’t want ‘illegals’ doing any of the things mentioned. I would, however, like for it to be easier for people to enter legally. They should have to learn the language, etc. Yes. But, we are the home of the free, not a third world country who arrests anyone who puts foot into our country, keeps them imprisoned and tortures them.
Yes, if they want to come here, they should learn the language as well as learn and respect our ways. However, for many of those who come here, they are not interested in learning our ways or our language.
I have lived in NYC my whole life which as you know is one of the largest sanctuary cities in the country. I an surrounded by immigrants, legal and otherwise who are adamant about not learning our language.
Lucky for those coming here who trample upon our flag and our laws that we are not a country who imprisons and tortures. Lucky for them is right.
Up until 911, in parts of NYC, it was openly frowned upon and ridiculed by many in various communities if Americans chose to fly the American flag on their lawns certain holidays.
Doing so elicited a negative response from many who came here for a better life. However, no one ever dared to question those same individuals when in celebration of their homeland, they displayed and flew their flags as they marched down Fifth Avenue in Manhattan or Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn on Labor Day.
